Humanities

Mae Maes Dysgu a Phrofiad y Dyniaethau yn annog dysgwyr i archwilio’r byd o’u cwmpas ac i ddeall eu lle ynddo. Trwy astudio Hanes, Daearyddiaeth a Chrefydd, Gwerthoedd a Moeseg, mae disgyblion yn datblygu ymdeimlad o hunaniaeth, chwilfrydedd a meddwl beirniadol. Maent yn ymchwilio i’r gorffennol a’r presennol, cymunedau lleol a byd-eang, ac effaith gweithredoedd dynol ar yr amgylchedd. Anogir dysgwyr i ofyn cwestiynau, ystyried safbwyntiau gwahanol ac ymgysylltu ag ymholiadau moesol ac athronyddol. Mae’r maes hwn yn helpu disgyblion i ddod yn ddinasyddion gwybodus, cyfrifol sy’n gwerthfawrogi amrywiaeth, yn deall newid ac yn barod i gyfrannu’n gadarnhaol at gymdeithas.

The Humanities Area of Learning and Experience (AoLE) encourages learners to explore the world around them and understand their place within it. Through the study of History, Geography and Religion, Values and Ethics, pupils develop a sense of identity, curiosity, and critical thinking. They investigate the past and present, local and global communities, and the impact of human actions on the environment. Learners are encouraged to ask questions, consider different perspectives, and reflect on moral and ethical issues. This AoLE helps pupils to become informed, responsible citizens who appreciate diversity, understand change, and are equipped to contribute positively to society.

History

Fel rhan o Faes Dysgu a Phrofiad y Dyniaethau, daw hanes yn ein hysgol gynradd yn fyw drwy straeon, arteffactau ac ymholiadau ystyrlon. Mae disgyblion yn archwilio pobl, digwyddiadau a lleoedd arwyddocaol o Gymru a’r byd eang, gan ddatblygu dealltwriaeth o brofiadau dynol ar draws amser a lle. Maent yn meithrin ymdeimlad o gronoleg, yn archwilio sut a pham mae cymdeithasau wedi newid, ac yn ystyried safbwyntiau amrywiol. Mae hyn yn helpu dysgwyr i ddatblygu empathi, ymwybyddiaeth ddiwylliannol a sgiliau meddwl yn feirniadol. Mae’r cwricwlwm yn meithrin chwilfrydedd ac yn cefnogi dealltwriaeth ddyfnach o’r gorffennol a’i ddylanwad ar fywyd, hunaniaeth a gwerthoedd heddiw.

As part of the Humanities AoLE, history in our primary school is brought to life through stories, artefacts, and meaningful enquiry. Pupils explore significant people, events, and places from Wales and the wider world, developing an understanding of human experiences across time and place. They build a sense of chronology, examine how and why societies have changed, and consider multiple perspectives. This helps learners to develop empathy, cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills. The curriculum encourages curiosity and supports a deeper understanding of the past and its influence on present-day life, identity, and values.

Geography

Addysgir Daearyddiaeth trwy weithgareddau ymarferol a chyffrous sy’n helpu disgyblion i archwilio’r amgylchedd lleol a’r byd ehangach. Mae dysgwyr yn ymchwilio i nodweddion ffisegol a dynol, yn datblygu sgiliau mapio ac astudio maes, ac yn archwilio’r berthynas rhwng pobl a lleoedd. Trwy archwilio materion byd-eang megis newid hinsawdd, cynaliadwyedd ac anghydraddoldeb, mae disgyblion yn dechrau deall sut mae gweithredoedd dynol yn siapio’r byd. Mae’r cwricwlwm yn meithrin chwilfrydedd, meddwl yn feirniadol, ac ymdeimlad o gyfrifoldeb dros y blaned a’i phobl.

Geography is taught through engaging, hands-on activities that help pupils explore their local environment and the wider world.  Learners investigate physical and human features, develop map and fieldwork skills, and examine the relationship between people and places. Through exploring global issues such as climate change, sustainability, and inequality, pupils begin to understand how human actions shape the world. The curriculum fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility for the planet and its people.

Religion, Values and Ethics

Addysgir CGM, gan gynnwys dadleuon moesol, ar bob lefel i holl ddisgyblion yr ysgol fel rhan o’r cwricwlwm. Nid yw’r ysgol â chysylltiad ag unrhyw enwad crefyddol yn arbennig, ond bydd CGM yn Gristnogol yn bennaf. Yn ogystal, astudir arferion a thraddodiadau prifgrefyddau eraill y byd er mwyn magu goddefgarwch crefyddol yn ein disgyblion.  Cynhelir gwasanaethau byr dyddiol yn yr ysgol – ysgol gyfan, adran, neu wasanaethau dosbarth (gwasanaethau Cristnogol neu ‘foesol’ yn bennaf). Ar adegau, gwahoddir weinidogion lleol i annerch y plant mewn gwasanaethau ysgol gyfan, neu byddwn yn ceisio ymweld ag eglwys leol ar gyfer gwasanaeth arbennig, e.e. Gwasanaeth Carolau Nadolig neu Wasanaeth Y Pasg.

RVE, including moral issues, is taught at everylevel to all pupils at the school as part of the curriculum. School is not affiliated to any particular religious denomination in particular, although RVE will be mainly Christian. In addition, the traditions and customs of othermain religions of the world are discussed and studied to develop religious tolerance and understanding in ourpupils. Short daily assemblies are held in the school - whole school, departmental or class assemblies. Theseassemblies are mainly Christian or moral in subject matter. At times, local ministers are invited to address the children in whole school assemblies, or we aim to visit the local church for a special assembly e.g. Christmas Carol Service or Easter Service.

Business and Social Studies

Mae elfennau o Astudiaethau Busnes a Chymdeithasol wedi’u plethu i mewn i’r cwricwlwm drwy gyd-destunau bywyd go iawn sy’n helpu dysgwyr i ddeall sut mae cymdeithas a’r economi yn gweithio. Mae disgyblion yn archwilio pynciau megis menter, rheoli arian, gwneud penderfyniadau, a rôl pobl yn eu cymunedau. Trwy ddysgu seiliedig ar brosiectau, maent yn cymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau fel rhedeg mentrau bach, cynllunio digwyddiadau codi arian, ac astudio materion lleol a byd-eang. Mae’r profiadau hyn yn datblygu meddwl beirniadol, ymwybyddiaeth foesegol ac ymdeimlad o gyfrifoldeb, gan gefnogi cysylltiadau trawsgwricwlaidd ag arholiadau fel Mathemateg, y Dyniaethau ac Iechyd a Llesiant. Anogir dysgwyr i ddod yn ddinasyddion gweithgar sy’n deall eu hawliau, eu cyfrifoldebau, a’r effaith mae eu dewisiadau’n ei chael ar eraill a’r amgylchedd.

Elements of Business and Social Studies are woven into the curriculum through engaging, real-life contexts that help learners understand how society and the economy function. Pupils explore topics such as enterprise, money management, decision-making, and the roles of people in their communities. Through project-based learning, they take part in activities like running mini-enterprises, planning fundraising events, and learning about local and global issues. These experiences help develop critical thinking, ethical awareness, and a sense of responsibility, while also supporting cross-curricular links with Mathematics, Humanities, and Health and Wellbeing. Learners are encouraged to become active citizens who understand their rights, responsibilities, and the impact of their choices on others and the environment.
